As a supplier of general insurance and protection products to intermediaries, imd is regulated by the Financial Services Authority. Our agents fall within three main categories:
  • Appointed representatives of imd
  • Introducer appointed representatives for imd
  • Directly authorised by the FSA
The FSA Rules require that we take responsibility for the actions of our Appointed Representatives / Introducers, which include ensuring that they are "fit and proper" before we appoint them, that they act in accordance with the relevant FSA Rules and that we monitor them on an ongoing basis.

Introducers pass client details to imd, we contact the client and if the customer goes ahead with the policy, the introducer earns commission. We pride ourselves on providing quality, value for money products backed up by service provided by a friendly, knowledgeable team who recognise the faith and trust an agent places in us when putting us in touch with a client.

Appointed Representatives deal directly with the client, with imd accepting responsibility for their actions. To enable us to demonstrate that on an ongoing basis we are complying with our obligations under FSA Rules, we have Systems and Controls relating to our Appointed Representatives.

As a key part of our service and support, we have developed grapevine, an imd e-learning resource. This enables us to ensure all our agents dealing with customers are familiar with our products and procedures and hence provide a high level of customer care, with the added benefit of being able to demonstrate an appropriate level of competence to the FSA.

This service is available not only to our Appointed Representatives, but also to agents directly authorised by the FSA, demonstrating our commitment to provide a professional service for all our agents' general insurance needs.
